Local Mum Zoe Nicholson, who is Co-Chair of the Lewes District Green Party, has won the prestigious Sussex Business Woman of the Year Award for her work as Chief Executive of Brighton based not-for-profit organisation ‘Here.’ Here works with the NHS to provide health and care services across Sussex.
Following the awards ceremony she said “I was amazed when I heard that my team at work had nominated me and even more surprised when I won. I hadn’t really thought of myself as a business woman, more as someone just trying to make the NHS a better place for people. In this 100th year celebration of some women getting the vote, to be recognised for my work by this award feels very special.”
Green Party Councillor Jo Carter added “We are so proud. Zoe works hard to put people at the heart of their care, and brings her all of her talents to the local community. As I begin my maternity leave from my role as District Councillor for Bridge Ward in Lewes, I am delighted that Zoe will be taking my place, and standing for election to the District Council next year. I can't imagine handing over to a better candidate and this award just goes to prove how talented she is.”
