Sian Berry, the co-leader of the Green Party, visited Lewes and Ringmer last week as the local Green party set out its priorities ahead of next Thursday’s local elections.
She heard that the party will focus on ensuring there is enough new housing that is truly affordable for local people; on tackling climate change and declaring a climate emergency; and on working the hardest for local communities on the issues that are important to them, whether that’s litter, dog mess or road safety.
Co-Leader Sian Berry said ”Lewes District Green Party is mounting its strongest ever local election campaign, with a record number of candidates standing for District and Town Councils, all of them already active in their communities. Talking to people in Lewes and Ringmer today I heard that people are fed up with the chaos and mismanagement of other parties, and will be voting for Green Councillors because they work hardest, work positively with the local community and listen to their concerns.”
The priorities were decided following two years of conversations with local residents. Information on current Green Councillors and candidates for the election can be found on the Lewes District Green Party website at lewes.greenparty.org.uk.
